This heat shrink tubing, fitted with central ring of solder which melts when heat is applied, allows you to join two cables with minimum fuss! Insulate and join your wiring at the same time. The shrink ratio is 2:1 and suits AWG wire size 16-14.
Best Method for Shrinking/Melting
For best results use a flameless heat gun capable of 450°C or more (or wave a blow torch/lighter over the tubing). Heat will need to be applied long enough to allow the solder to liquify and flow inside whilst the outer tubing shrinks over the join. It's important to get even heat across the join, so be sure to rotate the join over the heat source, focusing mainly on the join itself and working outward to shrink the tubing around the cabling itself.
